MQ Monocoque Body

The monocoque body brings further evolution of the LB reel.

  • Silky rotation

The adoption of a highly rigid monocoque body improves gear support accuracy and realizes silky rotation that exceeds conventional rotation. The non-deflection body and tightly engaged gears create a high-quality rotating feel.

    Silky rotation

  • Winding power UP

The simple monocoque structure features a larger diameter of the drive gear. The power at the time of winding is increased, and it is easy to interact with large fish and collect traps from the main stream and deep ground.

  • Improved rotational durability

The larger diameter of the gear also contributes to the improvement of rotational durability performance. It has succeeded in maintaining the initial rotational performance for a long period of time, and has achieved the highest level of real fishing durability in the history of TOURNAMENT ISO LBD.

    Improved rotational durability

  • Improved waterproofing

The synergistic effect of the improved airtightness by the monocoque body and the high water resistance by the mag shield blocks immersion inside the body.
It has achieved the highest level of waterproofing in the history of TOURNAMENT ISO LBD.

Power, precision and durability dwells in a strong body

  • New structure that eliminates the body cover and screws the plate directly

In conventional spinning reels, the body cover is fixed to the body with screws to support both ends of the drive gear. This structure was reviewed and the monocoque body was aimed at further improving rigidity and rotational accuracy.
By eliminating the conventional body cover and directly screwing in the engine plate finished with high precision, the body rigidity is greatly increased. It also contributes to the improvement of gear support accuracy and airtightness.

  • Increased drivegear storage space by expelling screw holes

The monocoque body, which does not require screw holes to fasten the body cover, dramatically expands the effective space inside the body compared to the conventional structure. Although the body area was comparable, it was possible to mount larger drive gears. The larger diameter of the drive gear brings many advantages, such as improved power and rotational durability, and the realization of even higher gears.

  • Drive gear diameter and thickness up
for a new dimension of power and strength

The large-diameter drive gear, which can be mounted because it is a monocoque body providing a powerful winding and improved rotational durability. In addition, by increasing the thickness of the gears compared to the past, the deflection generated during high loads is reduced. The competition LBD is 9% higher than the conventional model, and the 2500/3000 size, which requires tougher weight, is equipped with drive gears that are 13% thicker than conventional models. Coupled with the highly rigid monocoque body, power and reliability have been greatly improved.

  • Simple structure and mag shield block flooding into
    the body

The monocoque body without screw holes is blocked with an engine plate, and each part is sealed with packing. The structure that separates the space between the brake part and the gear part suppresses the penetration of water into the inside, and realizes high waterproofness by synergistic effect with the mag shield.

  • Excellent reversal-free performance due to the lightness of the initial reaction

The monocoque body also improves rotational performance when the rotor is reversed. The support accuracy of the spool shaft has been remarkably improved, reducing the blur at the time of reversal. The silky and smooth reversal free outperforms one-way oscillations.

OTHER TECHNOLOGY

  • MAGSEALED /
    MAGSEALED BALL BEARING

A special magnetic fluid "mug-oil" that reacts to magnetic force creates a protective wall of oil in the main shaft part. By applying this technology, "Mag Shield Ball Bearing" with "Mag Oil" sealed inside the ball bearing is equipped on the bearing part of the drive gear, further improving the waterproof and dustproof functions.

  • BITURBO BRAKE SYSTEM

By adopting titanium discs, the brake efficiency is twice that of conventional systems and strong braking power is demonstrated. The braking response to reach the required braking force is also shortened to 1/4 of the conventional one.

  • ATD TYPE-L / ATD TOUGH

"ATD", which instantly follows sudden tension, has further evolved. By changing the ratchet shape of the drag drawer, the drag operation resistance is reduced and the response is improved. The drawer volume has also increased, and even the slightest action of the drag can be sensed by sound. The competition LBD 2500XH-LBD is equipped with the "ATD TYPE-L" that is effective for exchanging with fine threads by adopting a felt washer, and the "ATD Tough" that adopts a carbon washer with high durability performance is equipped for the 3000LBD / 3000XH-LBD.

Competitive CONCEPT SPEED

  • DAIWA LB's
fastest gear ratio in history 7.6 Competition specialties that challenge lightness and
Use your strength to train lightness and speed.

The TOURNAMENT ISO competition LBD.

In contrast to the 18 models with a gear ratio of 7.2 and a winding length of 108 cm with one turn of the handle, the NEW TOURNAMENT ISO Competition LBD achieved the fastest specs in DAIWA LB history, with a gear ratio of 7.6 and a winding length of 114 cm. It enables faster recovery of traps and fish intake, and further improves hand-handling efficiency.

In order to achieve this fastest specification, the adoption of a monocoque body that can accommodate drive gears with a larger diameter than conventional has greatly contributed to the achievement. In general, the higher the gear ratio, the heavier the beginning of winding, but the beauty of this reel is that it provides silky winding despite being an ultra-high gear due to the effect of the monocoque body.

The Drag is a new version of the ATD TYPE-L. Grease with improved actuation response promotes smoother drag operation and is effective when interacting with fine threads. The handle and lever are made of ZAION, realizing the lightest weight of 235g in the series.

Taking advantage of the high strength of the monocoque body, NEW TOURNAMENT ISO competition LBD is lighter and faster. Sharpened performance beckons for victory.

Use your strength to train lightness and speed.

TYCOON CONCEPT POWER

The power of the large diameter & thick gear The power that can be generated by the monocoque is fully utilized by the large specification

Awaken with strength, more potential.

The monocoque structure itself already has properties suitable for large objects.

A monocoque body that produces high rigidity by a unique structure that directly screws the engine plate made with high precision. As the body rigidity increases, both ends of the drive gear shaft can be firmly supported (support accuracy is improved), so that the power loss at the time of rotation is reduced.

The benefits of monocoque body big-game fishing don't end there. By expanding the internal space due to the simple structure, it has become possible to use drive gears with larger diameters than before, thereby improving durability. In addition, by increasing the thickness of the drive gear, it became possible to wind up more powerfully.

The 3000LBD is a low-gear version that emphasizes torque despite winding at high loads. The 3000XH-LBD combines speed and power, and screws large vehicles with total power.

The drive gear has been increased in thickness as the diameter has been increased, and the durability has been further strengthened. The drag also adopts a carbon washer specification "ATD tough" that emphasizes durability to support interaction with big players.

Awaken with strength, more potential.

Ultimate waterproof performance

    • Fusion of LB and monocoque

 Fusion of LB and monocoque

"Tournament ISO LBD" reborn wearing the latest specs. Among the many updates that have been made, the biggest change is the "monocoque body".

A monocoque body is a lightweight, highly rigid body molded in a one-piece. The conventional body consisted of two parts, the "body" and the "body cover", which held both ends of the drive gear and fixed it with a screw.

However, as the name suggests, a monocoque body is a body formed by one part. The drive gear is supported on one side by the engine plate and the other by the body. The engine plate itself is a large screw, which is fastened to the body with high precision by screwing it into the body, and has a structure that supports the drive gear.

By simplifying the structure, the body does not bend easily even under a large load, and there is no misalignment at the joint like a two-piece body. This increases gear support accuracy and body rigidity, as well as improved hoisting power and durability. Another thing that has evolved to an unprecedented level is the "confidentiality" of the body.

Ultimate waterproof performance

Two technologies block water ingression

For reels, which are precision machines, seawater (salt water) can be said to be a great enemy. The seawater that invades the inside of the body eventually crystallizes and a phenomenon called salt chewing occurs. When salt bites occur, rotation failure occurs, and depending on the degree, it may stick completely.

All of Daiwa's LB reels use magshield, and there is almost no intrusion of seawater from between the body and the rotor. In addition, in the tournament series, the support part of the drive gear is also equipped with a magshield ball bearing, which also blocks flooding from around the steering wheel.

However, there is always a mating point in the body of the conventional two-piece structure. As long as the body is composed of two parts, it is difficult to completely eliminate the gap, and even if high-precision processing is performed, the possibility that water will enter the inside through a minute gap cannot be excluded.

In a monocoque body, there is no body alignment that can be a flooded area. A rubber packing is placed between the engine plate and the body. The brake and gear parts are closed off to prevent the penetration of water into the gear parts, and the rear cap and other parts are also sealed with rubber packings to thoroughly enhance confidentiality and waterproofness.

With the monocoque body, it is OK to wash the reel with fresh water after fishing.

The "Tournament ISO LBD" is the ultimate dustproof and waterproof product created by the magshield and monocoque body, two technologies. The overall performance befitting Daiwa's top-of-the-line LB reels will be felt the more you use it.
