Shimano 24 BB-X Technium Fireblood

The BB-X Technium, which has undergone a dramatic evolution, is now available as a limited production model for 2024, wearing a fire blood design, a symbol of passion for the sea. It comes standard with a high-response drag spool, while retaining the features that make it the "pinnacle" of Shimano LB reels, such as the SUT Brake II, the tough and highly rigid HAGANE body and gear, and the MGL rotor. The drag starts smoothly and is more effective when using thin threads or PE lines. It also protects the line from strong, snatch-like bites that suddenly attack the angler. The lineup only includes the C3000, and the XG and XXG gear ratios are set on both the left and right handlebars, making it easy to choose.

The sense of unity of "Fire Red" inspires the fighting spirit of anglers.

The colouring of the rod changes from passion to coolness, with vivid coloring and a metallic feel that blends in with the colour, and leads to the reel, which is a lump of metal. If the rod is fire blood, then the BB-X Technium should also be "fire red"... and so this design was born. What was required was a sense of unity when set on the rod, yet a striking impression. When you put your hand on the reel handle and suddenly look over, the red always inspires the fighting spirit of the angler.

SUT Brake II & MGL rotors provide a resistance-free feeling.

The innovative SUT Brake mechanism has evolved into the SUT Brake II in pursuit of further performance improvements. Since the handle does not reverse, the line is released without resistance, allowing you to quickly move from an unfavorable defensive position to an offensive position. Furthermore, the MGL rotor makes it even easier to rotate. The synergistic effect with the SUT Brake II provides a light, gentle and smooth reverse rotation with just a little tension, allowing the rod to be instantly raised and covering the angler's posture. The quick line feed allows the angler to return the rod to an advantageous position more smoothly, with almost no change in the position of the fish.

A 2024 limited edition reel has been released to coincide with the model change of the Fire Blood Grey. The design fits perfectly after all. I recommend it just for that change, but one thing that is different from the existing BB-X Technium is the spool. It is equipped with a high-response drag specification that was only available at Yumeya. The drag starts very lightly, so you can rest assured that it has a high ability to avoid line breaks when using PE lines or thin nylon lines that are weak to shock, for example, or on the first run when you hook a fish. The items are C3000, XG and XXG. Of course, there are both right-handed and left-handed reels, and it looks cool when set on a rod. I have one more tackle that will increase my passion, and I hope you will get your hands on it and get excited with me.

In my fishing, where I deliver my tackle to a tiny invisible "spot" that is a submerged current, speeding up the retrieve is an important element. Unlike the tide line, the spot disappears quickly, so when I get a bite but the fish doesn't bite, I want to retrieve the tackle quickly and aim for the same spot. For that, I use the XXG. The gear ratio is 7:2, and the reel length is 107 cm per turn of the handle, which is a great weapon. When a large fish is hooked, I don't pump the line, but turn the handle two or three times at a time while keeping the tension on to reel in the line. If you turn the handle too much at once, the vibration will inevitably be transmitted to the fish and it will start to run, so this is to suppress that. With the XXG, you can reel in 2 meters with just two turns of the handle, so you can quickly close the distance little by little without giving it any vibration. You might think that the reel feels heavier than the XG, but once you get used to it, it doesn't bother you. Together with the SUT Brake II, which eliminates shaking when the rotor reverses, and reduces vibration by releasing the line with a light rotation, it makes it easier to reel in the fish.

The high response drag starts to slide more smoothly and quickly. There is no delay, so even if a big fish comes along and runs away, it greatly reduces line breaks. You can use a PE line with no stretch with peace of mind. When a fish pulls close to the shoreline and tightens up, the line can be released too much if you use the lever brake in reverse, but this doesn't happen with the high response drag. The line comes out smoothly under load, so the fish stops and turns its head towards you quickly. The drag does a great job in crucial situations.

And to coordinate with the Fireblood rods, the BB-X has a black body and red levers and spools. Just like with clothes, coordination is important, and if it looks cool, people around you will also think it's good, and it will raise your own excitement and make you feel more excited.

X Protect

For medium and small general-purpose spinning reels, which require lighter spinning, we focused on a non-contact structure that does not compromise the lightness of the spinning. In addition to conventional water-repellent treatment, a labyrinth structure that suppresses water penetration is combined to achieve high water-resistant performance despite the non-contact nature of the structure. It is used in the stopper bearing section and line roller section.

AR-C Spool

The spool has a special spool ring shape. This creates a rectifying effect on the line and realizes both suppression of line trouble and long casting performance.

Ci4+

S A-RB

S A-RB bearings are put through the same process as Shimano’s A-RB bearings but feature shields on both sides of the bearings. These shields reduce the possibility of salt or sand inhibiting the rotation of the bearing

ONE-PIECE BAIL

One-piece bail allows the line to travel unimpeded to the line roller. The seamless design reduces friction and decreases the chance of tangles or the line catching on the bail arm.
