Tim Sanusi's June 23 fishing report
Tim Sanusi's June 23 fishing report for winter targeting squid and snapper. The techniques used are eging and soft plastics respectively. As the action slows down during winter and anglers often take a hiatus from fishing, it's a great time to beat the usually crowded boat ramps by braving the cold weather. The colder months often also bring calmer conditions and can turn out to be a great day on the water.

Had a free day today and the weather was looking sensational with an afternoon high tide. With the cold weather creeping in, it's time to hunt some Southern Calamari and Snapper.
Got to my local hunting spot for squid around 3.30pm, and didn't take long I picked up 3 squids. I was using my NIXX Special Tiprun Egi rod from JS Company matched with the 2500 Certate and Yamashita egi in a natural colour. I found that the natural colour works best during the day. Shortly after, I moved to a snapper spot to hunt some sunset snappers.
Setting up the drift was a bit tricky today due to wind and swell going in opposite directions. I ended up with 3 pan size reds as well on 4inch minnow soft plastic with a 1/4oz jighead. The rod of choice was the JS Company Bixod B314, 4-12lb matched with Luvias 3012H. I got bricked by 2 nice reds on 16lb fluorocarbon leader, which didn't stand a chance.
Tomorrow is looking good early.. Might go again 😜
