📬 Tim's Queensland fishing report October 2022

📬 Tim's Queensland fishing report
Went to pursue a different style of fishing while in holiday with family in Cairns with some new grounds to explore.
Â
Landbased, scouting the river mouth at the run in tide, kept looking to make sure there's no crocs lurking at me 😂.
Â
Gear used
Rod: TD Black travel rod 3-6kg
Reel: Daiwa Exist 2508 (non magseal)
Lures: casting NMD splash prawn
Â
I caught a few species such as barracuda, baby GT, Long Tom and also few missed hookups.
Â
The other fishing I went charter with Brodie from Tropic Barra Adventure. Here's his profile on fb

If you are into sport fishing, this guy will take you to the next level, I can highly recommend him!
Â
As fishing in Cairns is so much different to us here in Sydney, we actually needed a few directions here and there to catch the fish with high hookup rates and Brodie guided me from start till the end. Tbh it was one of the most enjoyable charters I have ever been so far. I probably landed more than 10 barramundi, about 15 Sooty Grunters, 3 Mangrove Jacks and couple of Tarpons... Again using a mix of gear mostly slow rolling Gulp Prawn Plastic, sight casting and fly fishing.
Â
The key for successful fishing here is accurate casting!
