Hook setting and swimming action

A treble hook is set for the popping action that pushes bubbles into the water. At the time of development, it was designed to be able to accommodate up to VANFOOK's Takumi Premium CT-88 #4/0 (approx. 9.0g).

By lowering the buoyancy of the body with the treble hook, the cup is fully submerged in the water, allowing the water and air to be thoroughly mixed and bubbles pushed in. The trick to using the rod is to move the lure in short jerks that flick the line slack.

When targeting Hiramasa or GT, if you want to attract them while increasing the speed of the lure, a single hook is recommended. At the time of development, the balance was achieved with a GOOD BAIT Yamada Hook Super Short #4/0 (approx. 5.5g).

Equipped with a light single hook, the buoyancy increases and the action starts without the cup being submerged in water for long. When the cup enters the water, it acts as a lip that triggers rolling, allowing for fast rod action. Also, by setting the swimming depth shallow, the lure rises quickly, allowing for rhythmic operation that is hard to believe for a plastic-bodied lure.
Tips for improving hooking performance

Depending on the shape and size of the belly hook, the triple hook may get caught in the groove on the side of the body. This will make the action unstable and, most importantly, will reduce the hooking performance when a fish bites.

If you experience any of the symptoms above, please check the orientation of your belly hook. Many hook manufacturers recommend setting the triple hook so that two hooks face towards the body and one hook faces forward, as shown above.

However, if the triple hook gets caught in a groove, flipping the hook 180 degrees and reattaching it will most likely prevent the above mentioned problem and also improve hooking performance by firmly setting the hook in the fish's mouth.
