Daiwa Megathis R

A slim, low-taper design creates the next generation of true action.

A new stage in surf fishing rods, created by a slender, low-taper design and V-Joint α.
Daiwa has adopted a slender, low-taper design that has been refined through countless real-world fishing tests, and has thoroughly pursued the ideal action required for each line size. The resilience that allows the entire rod to absorb the pull, created by bending all the way to the butt section, and the power from the rebound force generated by the bending, have created a "next-generation true action" that can only be achieved with a slender, low-taper design, which is a tip action that is easy to handle under low load and a mid-section action that creates even more power under high load. In the Megadis R, the balance of bending is changed to aim for the ideal action for each line size and length, so that the performance required for each line size can be brought out at a high level, by providing light and easy handling for low line sizes that require delicate operation and a deep bend for high line sizes that can handle strong pulls.
Regular = A "standard" regular taper that draws the optimal arc according to the load.
Reactor = A "low taper design" that stores energy by bending down to the butt section and converts it into lifting power, with the conversion mechanism (reactor) being the image.
Response = A standard taper but with the operability of a tip taper.
Retension = Has an extra level of tenacity to withstand a strong pull and has the ability to stop the fish. Refine
= A distinctive taper that refines the performance required for each line size through the low taper design.
Megathis R's commitment
1. The slim and low-taper design cultivated in the Tournament ISO has been refined. A new standard for surf fishing rods that balances the seemingly contradictory characteristics of tip action maneuverability and mid-section action tenacity.
2. Next-generation action made possible by the low-taper design that balances the maneuverability to control fish with the tenacity to withstand their pull.
3. Based on a regular taper, the lower the number, the more tip-action it becomes, and the higher the number, the more mid-section it becomes. Each rod is meticulously crafted, employing a design that maximizes the potential of each number.
4. Adopts the Power Hump Hold Seat (Zero Seat) used in the Tournament ISO, making it easier to grip and improving stability during fights.
5. The balancer effect of the rear grip reduces the feeling of weight. Concentrating the center of gravity around the handle further improves maneuverability.

Daiwa Technology

Sensory Domain Design System [ESS] (Expert Sense Simulation)
When a rod bends, it generates energy (restoring force) that tries to straighten it up in the opposite direction. This is "strain energy," the force that causes the deformed (strained) blank to return to its original shape, and it is an extremely important factor that affects the performance of the rod. DAIWA has independently developed a system to analyze and design "strain energy," which not only allows them to clearly understand "what is good" and "what is lacking" in numerical terms, but also makes it possible to reflect the angler's intuition in the design, bringing the rod closer to what anglers want.

| Item Name | explanation |
|---|---|
|
1-50 1.25-50 |
Designed for use with main lines of 1.5号 or less, this rod combines sharp handling reminiscent of a fast action rod with the resilience to absorb the pull of fish without letting out line, even with thin lines. It's a model that pursues the speed and reliability required in competitive fishing, allowing you to quickly control 40cm class sea bream and bring them into the net. |
|
1-53 1.25-53 |
This model offers a high level of balance between resilience and maneuverability, making it ideal for fighting fish using the rod's stroke. Its low-taper design provides the resilience needed to aggressively fish even with thin lines of 1.5号 or less, enabling quick retrieval without unnecessarily releasing line. By evenly distributing the load, it prevents fish from thrashing around, and its automatic action allows you to smoothly bring the fish to the surface simply by bending the rod. |
| 1.5-50 | While retaining the sharp handling of the conventional 5.0m model, the rod's action has been revamped by adopting a slim, low-taper design for the butt section. The excessive stiffness in the butt section is suppressed, resulting in an easy-to-handle action that generates power through resilience and rebound. |
| 1.5-53 |
This all-around model is primarily designed for 40-50cm class sea bream. Using 1.75号 main line and 1.5号 leader, it possesses the tenacity and power to tackle 40-45cm class fish with the drag fully locked. The slender, low-taper design allows for smooth load transfer, ensuring the rod flexibly follows even the strongest pulls. It absorbs the fish's pull without giving it the upper hand. The moment the fish stops, the accumulated rebound force throughout the rod is converted into lifting power, allowing you to quickly bring the fish to the surface. |
|
1.75-50 2-50 |
This 5.0m model prioritizes maneuverability and is ideal for targeting large longfin trevally, where delicate line mending is required, and for tackling big fish near the shore. The butt section has a slender, low-taper design for added strength, while the tip, which tends to be stiff, is intentionally made more flexible. This ensures a wide range of motion, allowing for smooth line feeding and precise control of line tension. |
|
1.75-53 2-53 |
This model allows you to make the most of the rod's stroke when battling large fish. Designed with a slightly parabolic action, it can withstand even the strongest pulls, resulting in a stable fight where you never lose control. |
|
3-53T 4-53T |
This model features a tubular tip, specifically designed for targeting large fish during expeditions to remote islands and night fishing. It boasts exceptional hooking performance to securely grip the hard mouths of large fish and overwhelming power, allowing you to withstand the fish's powerful runs while maintaining control, and enabling a strong fight to quickly bring the fish to the surface when the time is right. |
