Ripple Fisher SELFISH AJ 603

In jigging, there is no concept of casting distance. Therefore, the approach to fish is basically just dropping or raising the jig, and the theory is to change the way you entice the fish by varying the action and speed. Its simplicity is what makes it so profound, and the fact that there are big differences in catch results and it is highly reproducible is what makes this type of fishing so interesting.

How can you differentiate yourself from other anglers on the boat? It's a good idea to explore the patterns of the moment, changing your approach and lures as you go. Feeling and interpreting the unseen changes in the sea, adding action to the jig, and enticing the fish—this is the true essence and appeal of jigging.

Ripple Fisher's jigging rod series "Selfish" is a series that places great emphasis on fully enjoying the process leading up to hooking a fish, and is designed for you to enjoy jigging to the fullest.

Of course, it is assumed that it can be used comfortably all day long, but by pursuing operability and sensitivity, it has been given outstanding performance in hooking fish. Once hooked, the slender yet highly responsive blank bends throughout, possessing the potential to quickly lift the fish while suppressing its powerful runs.

In 2026, three new models will be added to the AJ series, creating a lineup that can handle a wider variety of patterns and changing conditions.

"AJ - Aggressive Jerk" A series with sharp, responsive handling performance that allows for varying degrees of force, and excellent sensitivity to feel the tidal pressure.

"NS - Natural Swim" A series specializing in the high sensitivity of diagonal retrieves in drift jigging, and the ability to move the jig naturally even in shallow areas and weak currents.

"SEB - Sensitive Bait" A highly maneuverable series that excels at the technical actions unique to baitcasting, enabling a wide range of lure presentations, from short and high-pitch retrieves to slow styles that entice bites on the fall.

Feel, manipulate, and hook. Selfish continues to evolve as a series that hones all elements of jigging and responds to the passion of anglers who continue to challenge the unknown.

AJ (Aggressive Jerk)
 AJ612 / AJ603 / AJ604 / AJ5105 / AJ5105B
The Aggressive Jerk series excels at fast initial speed and free-flowing sliding action. These specialized models conquer vertical jigging without losing operability sensitivity even in deep water or areas with strong currents where the load is high and fatigue easily accumulates.

SELFISH AJ 603

Based on the sharp handling performance of the AJ612, this model has been refined specifically for handling jigs weighing around 180g, which are the main weights used in inshore jigging. With its strong, core-like rebound force, it allows for free control of wide-ranging slide jerks and high-speed jerks, and even in high-pressure fields or when the current is slack and fish are not biting, its sharp initial action makes it ideal for targeting wary fish. The AJ603 most strongly embodies the sharp action performance and refined sensitivity unique to Selfish rods, while also combining it with the rigidity of robust double-foot guides. As a standard for inshore jigging, it is a new benchmark model that can handle not only vertical jigging but also diagonal jigging in technical shallow areas.

Jigging Rod Bending Curve

Selfish Series 3kg Static Load Comparison

This is a comparison of the bending characteristics of the Selfish series rods under a static load of 1kg. The AJ series is generally stiffer, but is designed to bend smoothly under load. The AJ doesn't bend much under light load, while the NS series is designed to allow the belly to bend easily even under light load, suppressing rebound. The SEB has a blank design that combines the best features of the AJ and NS, resulting in a rod action that allows for easy switching between static and dynamic movements.
