Model

High performance, high-spec rod with improved surf responsiveness for the avid angler.

A high-spec model from the Shimano surf rod series that balances lightness and strength at a high level. It features high versatility to handle everything from small minnows to heavy weight jigs with one rod. Built to pursue a wide range of responsiveness which is a big advantage in surf casting applications where you can not carry multiple rods and serves a "one to fit many" theory.

By installing Shimano's Spiral X Core and High Power X technology in the blanks, it is possible to suppress twisting during casting and fighting and fully demonstrate the original performance of blanks. Even if you fight with an unexpected larger sized fish, the rod will provide a controlled fight with superior performance. In addition, by installing a carbon monocoque grip, Shimano have achieved significant weight reduction and increased sensitivity to detect the smallest of bites.

With the tenacity and strength gained by generously introducing Shimano's latest technology, a high-performance surf rod that gives anglers a sense of security was born.

Ideal for anglers fishing from the harbour, rock, beaches and rock walls with distance, sensitivity and responsiveness in mind. Target species include flathead, tailor, salmon, bonito, kingfish, jewfish and snapper.

Key Feature

STRONG POINT

Sticky blanks are the source of strength.

.

NESSA XTUNE blanks are equipped with Shimano's original basic structure, Spiral X Core, which pursues high strength in all directions, including twisting and crushing. The Spiral X Core, which creates strength while ensuring lightness, has a synergistic effect with nanopitch to achieve an even higher level of strength. With a tough design philosophy that emphasizes tenacity and strength, it delivers torqueful power that provides peace of mind even when interacting with large objects.

Screw Lock Joint

For the first time, the NESSA series is equipped with the highly rated screw lock joint. When joining the rods, twist them to tighten them like a screw, increasing the fixing force and making the joints difficult to pull out. This jointing method allows you to easily release the fixation by twisting in the opposite direction. When the joints become loose, you tend to lose concentration on fishing. Not only will the rod not be able to demonstrate its original performance, but if you cast or fight with the rod loose, it will lead to problems such as breakage. By thoroughly eliminating these troubles, you can enjoy surfing games comfortably and with peace of mind.

Feature

Matte Rubber Coating

A special paint coating is applied around the grip end that is non-slip even with wet hands and has an excellent texture. Since the coating is extremely thin, it achieves a reliable grip without hindering the overall weight reduction of the rod.

Set Position Mark

The position mark of the rod set is written on each seam of the 3 pieces. This allows for reliable and quick settings, reducing stress caused by troublesome fine adjustments.

Technology

Spiral X Core
A next-generation basic structure that has evolved by using high-strength materials. Using Shimano's unique design and manufacturing methods, we thoroughly pursue further increased strength in all directions, including bending, screwing, and crushing. Shimano's original basic structure Spiral X, which enhances rod performance from the core, uses carbon tape made of high-strength resin realized by nanoalloy® technology. We have achieved even higher strength with selected materials. Compared to general structures, it achieves 1.4 times the screw strength and 2.5 times the crushing strength (compared to our company). Furthermore, compared to Spiral X, we achieved a 10% increase in screw strength and a 15% increase in crushing strength (compared to our company).
* Nanoalloy® is a registered trademark of Toray Industries, Ltd.

X Guide
Shimano original guide [X Guide] that brings out the original rod performance.
The X Guide was born from the perspective of a rod manufacturer to fully bring out the potential of blanks. Shimano's original high-performance guide that combines lightness, trouble-free casting, and casting performance at a high level

Carbon Monocoque grip
Lightness and high sensitivity created by the hollow structure that changed the standard of sensitivity.
A carbon monocoque grip that created a new history of high-sensitivity rods with the innovative idea of making the rear grip a hollow structure by integrally molding carbon. It has achieved unprecedented information transmission power and has achieved unprecedented lightness and sensitivity.

High Power X
Reinforced structure that further suppresses twisting that occurs during casting and fighting. The feature is that the carbon tape is tightened in an X shape from the outermost layer of Spiral This allows the rod to bend in the angler's intended direction, allowing the blank to perform to its full potential.

Nanopitch

A method of wrapping molding tape used in the process of baking blanks at an extremely fine pitch. Since the blanks are tightened with a more uniform pressure, they contribute greatly to higher strength. Its fine pitch draws a high-quality exterior design.

Screw Lock Joint
Specially processed joint specifications that increase the fixing force of the joint while also making it easy to remove. Twisting the rods when joining them tightens them like a screw, increasing the fixing force and making it difficult for the joints to come out. When removing it, twist it in the opposite direction to easily release the fixation. (Adopted for salt rod)

Ci4+
Ci4+ is a further evolution of Shimano's proprietary C14 material reinforced with carbon fiber. Its features are that it is lighter and has higher strength than conventional resins.

G Cross Protector
The joint between nodes is the part where the most stress is concentrated during the exchange. The G cross protector greatly reduces the risk of damage and gives the ball opening a fearless look.
