Bend, cut, and cast. Suitable for free casting in the surf scene.

The "bending blank" concept allows for continuous casting, which is required for surf games. The basic structure [Spiral X] and reinforced structure [High Power X] suppress twisting and crushing of the rod. The synergistic effect with the easy-to-bend blank makes it easy to grasp the release point and achieves a stable casting distance when casting in unstable surf scenes. In addition, the rod action with tracking suppresses error actions when retrieving lures. This expands the range of lure rotation for anglers, contributing to game development that strategically draws out the target's reaction from the vast surf. During the fight, the rod bends to suppress the movement of large flounder and bluefish that show strong resistance. It enables a speedy and powerful fight and assists in smooth landing.

Key Features

The blank is designed to bend easily, allowing for consistent and stable casting.

The Nessa SS is a rod designed to enable continuous long-distance casting, regardless of casting skill, even for those who are not confident in their strength, in the unstable footing of the surf. The blank setting stabilizes the casting form on unstable footing, making it possible to provide continuous casting stability not only to beginners and intermediate anglers, but to all surf anglers. The concept of conventional surf fishing rods is to increase the power of the rod blanks and release them at high output in order to emphasize casting distance, and the ease of handling of such rods varies depending on the angler's casting level. Therefore, the new Nessa SS has a blank design that is easy to bend, making it a rod that is easy to cast long distances regardless of the angler's level.

The blank is designed to bend easily, making it easy to cast long distances with precision, not only for pendulum casts with long cast lengths, but also for overhead casts with short cast lengths. It is easy to grasp the timing of the release, and the weight of the lure can be firmly placed on the blank. At the same time, the rod itself has tension and power, so the lure is cast out at high speed, allowing for easy long distance casting.

Cast the lure far away with effortless force. The blanks use stored power to launch the lure.

The blanks are made with Shimano's proprietary technologies "Spiral X" and "High Power X" for their basic structure. This suppresses twisting and crushing, and the blanks are designed to bend easily, resulting in a stable casting distance.

A unique connection mechanism that prevents power loss. Smooth connection and high trouble-free performance are its attractions.

The screw lock joint is Shimano's unique technology that twists the seams of the blanks together to join them together. In addition to preventing the joints from sticking, it also reduces wobbling and misalignment that occurs at the joints during use, and prevents unexpected breakage under high loads such as when casting. Another feature of this technology is that it can be easily joined using the marks.

You can confidently handle even the most intense fights. The bendable blanks provide the advantage.

The blank design is easy to bend, which is also helpful when fighting. The rod's ability to follow the movements of unexpected large flounders and bluefish that put up strong resistance helps to counteract them. By suppressing the movement of violent fish, you can fight them quickly and powerfully, and land them smoothly.

Identify the flow and be more technical. Technology that combines sensitivity and operability.

The Nessa SS S106M/MH and S100M/MH+ are equipped with Soft Tube Top technology. Soft Tube Top is characterized by a tubular tip that has a flexible tip structure like a solid tip, but is highly sensitive. It allows the angler to easily control the lure while feeling the current and changes of the tide. It is compatible with sinking pencils and jointed lures that have low pulling resistance, allowing for a more delicate approach.

Comparison table of bending curves for Nessa SS and Nessa BB

At low load

The Nessa BB is equipped with a taut tip that is suitable for fine manipulation such as twitching, and its belly section provides stable retrieval while also providing tracking ability when simply reeling.

On the other hand, the Nessa SS is equipped with a highly responsive tip that makes it easy to follow the movement of lures with little pulling resistance, and its taut belly section is capable of responding to large movements of the lure, such as jerks, at a high level.

High load

The Nessa BB has a thicker blank, which gives the blank greater power throughout, making it easier to feel its power when casting long distances and when forcibly pulling the lure up along the shoreline.

On the other hand, the Nessa SS has a wide release point when casting and a resilient blank that gives you peace of mind when fighting, preventing the fish from getting away.

Feature

CI4+

CI4+ is an evolution of Shimano's proprietary CI4 material, which is reinforced with carbon fiber. It is lighter and stronger than conventional resins.

Screw Lock Joint

Twisting the joint like a screw increases the fixing strength of the joint. This prevents the rod from accidentally coming loose during rock shore fishing where high loads are applied.

Technology

Spiral X

Overcomes screws and crushing and enhances rod performance from the core.

Spiral X has a three-layer structure in which carbon tape is tightly wound diagonally in opposite directions to the inner and outer layers of rod longitudinal fibers. The internal and external oblique fibers allow high screw rigidity and crushed stiffness to be achieved while maintaining lightness. Shimano's unique "basic structure" improves instantaneous power transmission in fishing operations such as cast and fight, maintains lightness, and enhances "ground strength for catching".

High Power X

Reinforced structure that further suppresses the screws that occur during casting and fighting. It features carbon tape tightening up in an X-shape from the outermost layer of Spiral X or the carbon sheet longitudinal and horizontal crossing structure. This ensures that the bend of the rod preserves the angler's intended orientation and that the original performance of the blanks is fully realized.

Screw Lock Joint
Specially processed joint specifications that increase the fixing force of the joint while also making it easy to remove. Twisting the rods when joining them tightens them like a screw, increasing the fixing force and making it difficult for the joints to come out. When removing it, twist it in the opposite direction to easily release the fixation. (Adopted for salt rod)

CI4+

CI4+ is a further evolution of Shimano's original material CI4 reinforced with carbon fiber. Compared to conventional resins, it is lighter and has higher strength.

Softube Top
The special design adds solid-like flexibility to the lightweight, highly sensitive tubular tip. It also features a clean bend without stagnation.

Line Up

S104M
This lure is perfect for technically attacking high-pressure situations where the angler is close to the fish, such as in the inner bay surf, steep and deep surf, and the straits of the harbor. Its greatest feature is its high operability, which allows you to carefully explore the changes in the terrain while limiting the distance the lure travels, not just by reeling, but also by lifting and falling.

S108M+
As the core of the series, this rod has a wide range of capabilities regardless of the area or lure. The action makes it easy for anglers to grasp the release point when casting, and the taper design is suitable for jerking minnows, so the performance regardless of the situation will increase your encounters with fish.

S112M+
Pursuing the casting distance required of a long rod. The longest length in the series and the ability to accurately output the power intended by the angler make it possible to achieve stable long casts. Another big attraction is the accurate lure tracing that results from line mending that makes use of the length.

S106M/MH
The soft tube top combines a flexible tip with powerful butt power. It allows you to cast heavy lures with ease, and when retrieving, the tip follows even sinking pencils that have weak resistance, allowing you to clearly detect small vibrations. Of course, the flexibility and length of the tip make it ideal for drift fishing that takes advantage of the wind.

S100M/MH+
The tip is equipped with a flexible soft tube top that has excellent lure detection, improving adaptability to a wide range of lures. Meanwhile, the butt section has the strongest butt power in the series, allowing you to fully cast heavy lures and fight not only flounder but also large bluefish and bigeye snapper.
