Night Time Eging
Posted on 17 May 2016
A small group of us went eging on Monday evening. We met up at 8:30pm and fished until 11:30pm. The water was calm enough which allowed us to head out onto the rocks. Ray and my father Tony were float fishing for squid whilst Ricky, James and I were eging. The night started off quiet with James picking up 2 squid within the first hour. The action wasn't too great until later on as they started to come onto the chew. We were using a mixture of egi lures to see what the squid were preferring on the night. Ray and my father were unsuccessful using floats for the squid and they seemed to only like jigs.
After an hour of getting there, they started to pick up and we managed 14 calamari on the jigs between the 3 of us (Ricky, James and I). The squid were not very big and were being picky, so try switching around colours and lures to see what they are hitting. We were also using glow models and spraying EGI-MAX.
